If you are thinking about setting yourself up online with a blog website here are a few tips that I want to share with you.  I spent several years in the online advertising and marketing industry where I ran a successful affiliate network. Now with me relatively new to blogging in this ever changing online world I’m still learning as I go. There is some vital information that is essential to setting yourself up online as a blogger. It is best to start off how you want to go on ie start with a web domain rather than just a blog post. I chose Dreamhost to take care of my online needs as I had utilised them for several years for my email and a website and can definitely recommend them. Dreamhost are reasonably priced and reliable and they have amazing online support if you need help in setting anything up (which I have needed quite a bit of help with my blog development as I’m not a ‘techie’ person). From organising SSL certificates (which you can get a free option), to ‘one click installs’ for WordPress sites, to having your web domain/s on a shared server (which you can have as many domains hosted on there as you like for a reasonable monthly or annual price). I initially had the shared server arrangement for a couple of years which was very suitable for my art website and my email until recently when I decided I wanted to develop my blogging and business.  This meant I needed more space organising a VPS (private server) which is scalable and also a very reasonable price. There are other hosting companies such as Bluehost, GoDaddy etc which you should definitely take a look at before making your decision as to which hosting company to go with.  But for me Dreamhost through my experience have been really great.
